Foley and Son's Wood Packaging opened its doors in 1958, founded by Paul Foley.  At the time, pallet production was the majority of Foley's business.  Foley Hardwoods, Inc. was incorporated in 1973 with three Foley brothers, Tom, Don, and Richard overseeing production and expanding the business to include mill production of grade hardwood lumber for domestic and export use as well as other industrial lumber products.

In 1981 Foley Hardwoods, Inc. installed Nyle dry kilns to allow for sales of kiln-dried lumber for a wider range of uses throughout the industry.

In 1994 the Dimension Mill was built, allowing Foley Hardwoods, Inc. to become a one-stop saw mill operation: from tree to home and greatly increasing the diversity of products offered.

In 1998 Tom, Don, and Richard retired and control of the company was divided into an ESOP program before its purchase by the current president and owner, Don Foley, Jr.
